Glitch art is the one of the biggest trends in the world, but its concept isn’t unique. The style of glitching is reminiscent of alternative art such as Picasso that takes a concept and displays it in any alternate ways.
this is may seem like a stretch and you would be right, it is. But I thought it be a cool title to have for my blog post. but if you really think about it Picasso did works in cubism, modernism and surrealism that you could argue is a large part of glitch art.
But in all seriousness glitch is hyper popular and has been expanding along way after coming from a niche art style to a widely accepted style used by corporations and even featured in museums.
Personally, I’m not a fan I feel like they are mostly overdone with a few exceptions. The idea of glitching memes was hugely popular in the last few years and I find that aggravating as it isn’t funny to me.
however in saying this i can respect the way that glitch art is being used by marketers as it breaks into internet culture that is a one of the biggest untapped markets so far. it is really hard to market to a broad internet culture as it more like thousands of niche cultures meeting in one place. so the only thing worth marketing is products or services that apply to a large audience, unless you can market to specific things that the majority of the internet find interesting.
